50 Cent to Adopt a….Rhino?

50 CENT, the 35-year-old multi-award winning rapper, has the chance of adopting a rhino who recently survived a poaching attempt. The rhino, currently named ‘Phila’, was shot nine times in two separate incidents in South Africa, the same amount of times that the hip hop artist has been shot, reports the Epoch Times.

50 CENT was shot during an incident in 2000, as he was beginning to leave the streets of New York to begin his music career, and now a spokesperson for the crime fighting organisation eBlockwatch says they want the rapper to become a ‘godfather’ to the animal, saying, “We want to ask him if he wants to become the godfather of our rhino so that he can create awareness worldwide about rhino poaching”. Rhino poaching is becoming more of a problem in South Africa, with 227 confirmed deaths this year, compared to only 122 in 2009. ‘Phila’ survived an initial shooting, which encouraged the poachers to remove the rhino’s horn, however she then survived a second shooting.
